Informant shares the data with the native contacts app on your device, it doesn't manage your contacts completely.  So there are some features that are not available to create from within Informant, groups (filters).   

You would need to create your group from within the contacts app on your device or in your google account online.   Those groups will then be available to choose from within your contacts in Informant.
