Tap the calendar icon at the bottom of your view. Choose the 'year' view.

This will show you all months grouped by year. The colors you see are representing the calendar color of events for that day.

Tap general area around the day you want to see to open the month view, then in the month view - tap the date you want to get the quick view showing all events for that day.
